At PetSmart Charities, our number one priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our partners, volunteers, associates and pets. As the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across our communities, we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about the extra steps PetSmart and PetSmart Charities are taking to keep people and pets safe:

Store associates follow regular cleaning practices using a disinfectant formulated to kill coronavirus, among other germs, and have increased the frequency of cleanings of key customer touchpoints (doorknobs, shopping carts, check stands, etc.)

Cleaning and disinfecting our Everyday Adoption Centers and 7-Day Cat Centers

Cleaning and disinfecting all grooming tables, kennels, water/food bowls, Doggie Day Camp toys and grooming tools between every pet service

Sanitizing and cleaning all surfaces and playrooms every night

Changing air filters every week to maintain clean, healthy air in our Grooming Salons
This is also an opportunity for our in-store Adoption Partners to revisit the Adoption Partner Manual and the Everyday Adoption Center Manual to remind shelter staff and volunteers about important cleaning protocols.
Together with our partners at PetSmart, we are closely following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other local and national public health agencies. Based on current guidance and our own standards and practices, our Everyday Adoption Centers and 7-Day Cat Centers remain open and will continue to facilitate pet adoptions.
